These posts are always rather journal-like and boring, but I feel obligated to tell you even though you should already know..
So, today was the Utah Pride Festival! It was a lot of fun. I went with some friends, which makes anything turn into the best thing ever. We "marched" a little bit in the parade, saw some awesome costumes (I really love drag -- which may explain why I love Rocky Horror Picture Show and Eddie Izzard more than other weird movies and comedians), and headed down to the festival.
There was so much free stuff. So much. Free stuff. T-shirts, pinwheels, keychains, bookmarks, stickers, condoms, bracelets, hats, buttons (did you know I have an extensive button collection?), water bottles, pens, seeds, magazines... and it goes on. But I didn't like the free stuff the most in the festival. I liked the people. And I liked learning. I enjoyed the booths that actually sought to do things, not just get you to shop at Ebay more often, or such. Watershed conservation, Planned Parenthood, equal rights...
These are things I can get behind. And I did, at least, for the first step of actually caring. But I know that if I stop there, then I basically stuck at being behind things, and will therefore suck at hide and seek forever if I don't figure myself out and what to do. I should do more than care to do things. So I sign petitions, I tell people about Planned Parenthood, and I take my own actions into consideration on a day-to-day basis.
I'm getting lost on where my point is.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun! Tons of people. Not people I knew, but it was just as well. I actually really love to see people flirt -- which makes no sense, because they're not ever flirting with me... but the Pride Festival is perfect to see happy couplings.
Music that I heard playing a lot:
"We Found Love (In a Hopeless Place)" -- Rihanna
"What Makes You Beautiful" -- One Direction
"Sexy and I Know It" -- LMFAO
"Set Fire to the Rain" -- Adele
And there was an awesome hoop-dancer. Add that to my list of things I want to do someday.
Posts that have no real organization, FTW!
