Sex, Babies, and Parents Exist

I was going to write about this on Facebook, but most of my friends are conservative and would probably get really pissed at me or just silently despise me for a few days (or longer, I dunno).  And I sorta suck at being hated, so I figured I'd just talk about this on my handy dandy blog, where the only people who read it are people who, to some extent, care about what I have to say (whether or not agreeing)!
So, I was going through posts on my other blog and found a blank one that had been saved, so I deleted it. "Delete > Are you sure?> Delete". There was no redirecting me to the blog post to look at it before I finally deleted it, and immediately I had the thought, "What?? Not making me look at my unborn child before I abort it? It's an outrage!" With complete sarcasm, mind you. It's sort of a sick thought to have. A really sick thought, just because I didn't even intend it at all.  But it rang true.
I am extremely pro-choice.  I understand that circumstances of the pregnancy can be life-threatening or dangerous, or that parents might not be able to afford the pregnancy or the child, in a number of different ways.  I can understand that pregnancy is important, and it's a choice not to be taken lightly.
I can also understand some arguments pro-life people make.  Yes, it would be great if the child could be born and then put up for adoption if the parents couldn't keep him/her.  And it's fine if they want that, but a lot of the pro-lifers I know don't try to understand where the actual parents are coming from if they have an abortion.
And that brings me to what my whole thought was about.  So often, women who get abortions are demonized.  They're horrible people -- murderers.  As if women get pregnant and get an abortion for pleasure.  It sickens me, the extent to which some pro-life legislation/practices will go.  I hear talk of doctors forcing a mother to get an ultrasound to see the baby before they get an abortion.  I don't think people understand that in most cases, this isn't a choice that people want to make.  Their emotions are already bouncing all over the place because they've made the choice to have an abortion.  Yet people want to guilt mothers into having babies.
At this point, I don't have any political power (soon, though!), so I can't do anything about that crap.  BUT....
PSSSSST  -- Utah! The best way to not get an unwanted pregnancy is to teach about birth control in addition to abstinence.
On that note, I'm glad they vetoed that bill to make sex-ed even more, um... nonexistent. But seriously.  I don't even remember health class talking about an erection -- because, oh, that's about sex.  Why do we call it sex-ed?  Here, it's just "you have organs and you might get cancer", "here, let's watch the birth of a baby, shall we?" (Not to mention that "sex" was alluded to by intricate dancing in that video.) Seriously, Utah.  If I ever have kids, I'll have to teach them all of this stuff myself, because you're not truly educating people to the extent that is necessary.  SEX EXISTS.  Big shock, eh?

Edit 3/18/12:
My mom was reading the newspaper this morning, and there was one thing she read... "A fertilized egg, a corporation, and a woman; two of these are considered people in Oklahoma, one of them is not."
