Today I got to thinking about the good things in life. So here are some as the small (maybe a bit larger than that) miracles in my life.
LIFE!! (It's a wonderful miracle, is it not?)
COMPASSION and PATIENCE. Today I went out to play with a girl named Luisa with Down Syndrome. She is staying with my neighbors, and comes to visit every so often. I felt bad because my little sister who Luisa usually plays with was refusing to, and my sister would not open the door. I ended up going outside with my cousin Miranda. I could tell Luisa was afraid we were going to leave her though, because she kept on making us pinky promise to come back if we went somewhere. She must have not had good experiences. Although it was a little hard, she seemed really happy to have friends.
GRAVITY. It is a miracle, even though it may not act it at some times.
FRIENDS and FAMILY. The people who love you for who you are. (See "love")
LOVE. Good feelings for a person regardless of flaws.
BACTERIA and SCIENCE. I know some people are germaphobes, but if it wasn't for bacteria to help make insulin, I would be dead right now. (I'm type one diabetic, for anyone who doesn't know.)
MATH. If I am bored, I count tiles. Math was my favorite subject in school. It is how I see the world! It is even how I draw. I have had a lot of people ask me how I draw so well, and I tell them that they could draw well too if they "draw what you see". That is the personal advice I use. Things that you see often make mathematical sense (it's true, look around).
BOOKS. The stories that you can hear over, and over, and over. Alleluia for libraries!
THE FIVE SENSES. I honestly don't know what I would do without them.
H2O. That wonderful life giving thing the humans call "water".
PETS. Like a cuter family that doesn't talk.
STARS. (Super novas. Black holes. Global warming. Global cooling. Etc.) It is a huuuuuge factor of life. For thousands of years people have been honoring the sun as a god or goddess (Egyptian god Ra. Grecian god Apollo or Helios. Japanese goddess Amaterasu. Slavic god Svarog. Etc.)
EVERYTHING. Anything that I may not have thought of right off, since even the smallest miracles in life can make the biggest difference.
Sometimes we need to stop and think about everything that's benefited our lives, and how we're so lucky just to be alive. We need to take every minute of life and live it to the fullest, so that we have no regrets when the end comes.
ReplyDelete@JT, Nicely put.
ReplyDelete@Rachel, I agree, there are so many things we take for granted, we just need to step back and think what are life would be if we didn't have those things.
